- 御感想: The honorific prefix 御 marks 感想 as belonging to the listener.
- 聞かせて: Tell, convey. Lit. "let [someone] hear".

- 困る has a variety of possible translations according to context, and is often tricky to express in English.

- 困りましたでは: The speaker repeats the verb 困りました and uses it in his own sentence just like a noun. This kind of construction can be seen in casual dialogue settings where the speaker immediately reacts to something that was said by someone else.
- 私のほうで = 私の方で.

The idiom is based on the idea of a theatrical horse whose legs are in fact human actors hidden under the costume. If the actors are accidentally exposed, the audience can see that the horse is not real.
- つまらない: Used in the sense of "stupid, ridiculous", not "boring".
